When will the COVID-19 vaccination be available for all?

To our valued patients,

We understand many of you are interested to know when COVID-19 vaccination may be made available to you. Locally, COVID-19 vaccine distribution is being managed by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU). At this time, physician offices do not have any information on when vaccination will be available to the general public.

The first vaccines are being given to higher-risk people and healthcare workers. We look forward to the time when all our patients will have access to the vaccine. While we do not yet know where or when the vaccine will be available we will communicate this as soon as we do. We strongly encourage everyone, who is able, be vaccinated when the vaccine becomes available.

What we do know is that the vaccines being offered in Ontario have been rigorously tested and are known to be safe and effective. Vaccinations, along with mask wearing, hand washing and physical distancing, are the best way to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities against the dangers of COVID-19 infection.

If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, immunocompromised, or have a history of anaphylactic allergic reactions please discuss vaccination with us.

For more information on COVID-19 vaccination, please visit the SMDHU website at: simcoemuskokahealth.org/Topics/COVID-19.

Our offices remain accessible to you by email, phone, video and in person as necessary. The After Hours Clinic also remains operating as usual.

Thank you for your continued effort in keeping our community safe by wearing a mask, keeping your distance and washing your hands.

Be safe and be calm.

Dr. Dharssi
